There was a plethora of collaborations during the 50th annual CMA Awards last night (Nov. 2), but none more energizing than Carrie Underwoodâs performance of her current single, âDirty Laundry,â backed up by some of countryâs hottest female newcomers.
If you werenât paying attention, you may not have noticed Carrieâs awesome backup band. But if you were paying attention, you took note of a couple of things. First, Carrie was backed up by an all-female bandâscore one for the ladies. Second, that all-female band was filled with some of countryâs most badass ladies.
Singing backup for Carrie was countryâs hot new female trio Runaway JuneâHannah Mulholland, Naomi Cooke and Jennifer Wayne. Rocking out on guitar were âBy the Wayâ singer Lindsay Ell and singer/songwriter Lindi Ortega. And, of course, what band would be complete without the musical stylings of Aussie singer/songwriter and guitar virtuoso Orianthi, who has played for the likes of Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper.
