Sam Hunt scored his sixth No. 1 single as âKinfolksâ ascended to the top of both the Billboard Country Airplay chart and Mediabase chart this week.
Penned by Sam with frequent collaborators Zach Crowell, Jerry Flowers and Josh Osborne, âKinfolksâ is the lead single from Samâs upcoming sophomore album, Southside (April 3).
âWhen I think of âkinfolks,â when I think of that phrase, I think of my family, but also I think of my people back homeâbeyond family,â says Sam. âItâs my buddies whoâve been a part of my story from the beginning. Iâve made a lot of new friends and met a lot of new people who are important to me since Iâve moved away, but that core group is still my core group. Itâs like that old saying, âyou canât make old friends.ââ
Samâs sophomore album will follow his 2014 debut project, Montevallo, which spawned hits âLeave the Night On,â âTake Your Time,â âHouse Partyâ and more. âKinfolksâ is Samâs first No. 1 single since his 2017 smash hit, âBody Like a Back Road.â
Sam will hit the road for his 40-plus-date Southside Summer Tour in May. Kip Moore, Travis Denning, Ernest and Brandi Cyrus will serve as support.
