Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line have released collaborations with some of musicâs biggest stars, including Luke Bryan (âThis Is How We Rollâ), The Backstreet Boys (âGod, Your Mama and Meâ) Bebe Rexha (âMeant to Beâ), Justin Bieber (âYummy Country Remixâ) and more.
On Feb. 25, the duo made a public plea via Instagram for a collaboration with Carrie Underwood: â@carrieunderwood whether you know it or not, we are huge fans of you and we have always wanted to do a song with you weâve just been waiting on the right oneâŠâŠWe think this is [hot].â
During the Instagram video, Tyler and Brian reveal they co-wrote a new song with Julia Michaels as it begins to play in the background.
âWe think it would be a massive collaboration,â said Tyler. âWeâd love to send it to you, but we donât have your email or your phone number, so weâre just gonna play a little [of the song].â
Two months later on April 26, Brian and Tyler made a virtual video appearance on the CMT Hot 20 Countdown, where host Cody Alan asked the duo about the possibility of a Carrie collaboration.
Tyler and Brian shared a laugh with a good-natured response:
âNo, we got turned down on that one, you donât win em all, Cody,â said Tyler. âI guess she didnât love it as much as we did, but thatâs alright.â
âI think she said it was amazing and sheâd love to, but it was right around her book tour release and so she was super busy and didnât really have time, but who knows, who knows where it will go,â added Tyler. âNow itâs just open game.â
âWe got turned down, we got turned down, Cody,â added Tyler.
