This week marks an anniversary from last year that Thomas Rhett would like to forget. Turns out that since he couldnât be on the road due to quarantine, Thomas took his family to Colorado, and decided to do a little fishing.
Well, things didnât go as plannedâŠbut Thomas did hook himself a big oneâŠjust too bad, HE was the big one.
Thomas shared the story, âWell, Iâd had three or four Miller Lights, letâs just preface it with that. And I was trying to cast into the wind, and Iâm not a super-experienced fly fisherman and so when I casted back and went forward, the wind took it and just whipped it right into the back of my leg. And I started limping over to my wife and I was like, âSo what do I need to do?â Sheâs like, âYouâre gonna have to push it through the other side.â And I was like, âThis is gonna be terrible.â But thank you for Miller Lite because I think it would have been a lot more painful without it.â
Taking the whole episode in stride, Thomas recalls a time when he was on a fishing trip with his Grandfather, and one of Thomasâ errant casts ended up in his Grandfatherâs neck. âThere was one time when I was about nine years old that I slung my rod back and I hooked him right in the neck with a treble hook. I watched a doctor pull it out, and so when I hooked myself right in the back of the leg, I looked at the sky and said, âGod, I deserve every bit of this.'â
